The Chinese HRB price was down 1.8% to $438 per tonne for the fourth consecutive time. The Western European HRB price was down 1.5% (on a Euro basis, it was down 1.0%) to $520 per tonne for the third consecutive time. The United States HRB price was down 1.2% to $636 per tonne for the second consecutive time.

Hot-rolled coil European steel traded at USD 527 per metric ton on 5 July, which was 0.4% lower than on the same day in June. Furthermore, the price was down 8.3% on a year-to-date basis and was 18.8% lower than on the same day last year.
