A line graph differs from a bar graph in that you plot individual points on the two axes and join neighboring points up using straight lines. The vertical axis could represent basically anything, but the horizontal axis ordinarily represents time. Graphs are one type of chart, but not the only type of chart; in other words, all graphs are charts, but not all charts are graphs. Charts are a large group of methods for presenting information. Graphs provide one of those methods by presenting data in a visual format.
